Biography
Antoine Bailleux is a Full Professor at UCLouvain Saint-Louis Bruxelles and serves as the Dean of the Institute for European Studies. A member of the Brussels Bar since 2008, he combines high-level academic expertise with legal practice. He is currently the Director of the Séminaire interdisciplinaire d’études juridiques (SIEJ) and the Associate Chief Editor of the Revue interdisciplinaire d’études juridiques – Droit en contexte (RIEJ).
Within the EUMERGENCIES Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence, he serves as the Co-Supervisor of the “Rights and Values” axis.
He holds a PhD in Law from Saint-Louis University and an LL.M. from Cambridge University.
Research
Professor Bailleux’s research lies at the intersection of European Union Law and Legal Theory. His primary areas of expertise include EU fundamental rights, litigation, and institutional law, with a specialized focus on the regulation of chemicals and pesticides.
In the field of legal theory, his work explores adjudication, epistemology, and the emerging concept of post-growth law. His research frequently adopts an interdisciplinary approach, analyzing the evolution of legal orders in a changing European context.
