Critical Perspectives on EU Borders: Green Border Research Seminar

The Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence EUMERGENCIES was proud to host the Green Border Research Seminar, a dive into the crisis unfolding at the EU’s external borders.

Under the chairmanship of Prof. Florence Delmotte, the session brought together three leading experts to share their latest research and fieldwork:

  • Dr. Sylwia Urbańska (University of Warsaw) provided crucial fieldwork insights on the dynamics at the Polish border.
  • Prof. Marie-Laure Basilien-Gainche (University Jean Moulin Lyon 3) analyzed the legal protection of vulnerable populations (online)
  • Dr. Bastien Charaudeau Santomauro (Sciences Po Paris) examined border control regimes and state sovereignty.

The seminar saw a high level of engagement from both external participants and our law students, bridging the gap between academic theory and the harsh realities of border management.
