On Thursday, June 11, 2026, Professor Cecilia Rizcallah presented her latest monograph, The European Union and Human Rights, at the prestigious Egmont Palace. The event was co-organised with the Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The evening featured an insightful discussion with Antoine Misonne, who introduced the event, followed by a stimulating exchange with Judge Emmanuelle Bribosia and Professor Antoine Bailleux (UCLouvain Saint-Louis Bruxelles).
This work is the culmination of five years of research, exploring the intersection of two critical pillars: the European Union’s legal framework and the protection of human rights. As Professor Rizcallah highlighted during the evening, the event was a unique opportunity to bring together a diverse audience—ranging from academia and diplomacy to the judiciary and legislative spheres. Fostering such cross-sectoral dialogue is essential for the collective defense of human rights and the rule of law.
