Launch of Prof. Cecilia Rizcallah's New Book on the EU and Human Rights
We are delighted to announce the publication of a new book by Prof. Cecilia Rizcallah, a member of the EUMergencies research team, titled “The European Union and Human Rights: Understanding a Singular Regional Player“. This open-access work provides a comprehensive analysis of the EU’s unique contribution to the protection of human rights within national legal orders. By taking a cross-cutting approach, Prof. Rizcallah expertly navigates the intricacies of the capacity and adjudication of human rights in the European landscape.
To celebrate the launch, a special event will be held on June 11, 2026, at 6:00 PM at the Egmont Palace in Brussels.
The programme features a book presentation and discussion with the author, alongside Prof. Antoine Bailleux and Judge Prof. Emmanuelle Bribosia, followed by a cocktail reception.
The event is co-organized by the Federal Public Service Foreign Affairs in partnership with UCLouvain Saint-Louis Bruxelles.
