Florence Delmotte to Lecture at the University of Florence

As part of the ongoing academic exchanges within the EUMERGENCIES Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence, Florence Delmotte (F.R.S.-FNRS Senior Research Associate, UCLouvain/IEE) will be visiting the University of Florence to deliver a guest lecture.

The session, titled “Nationalism(s): An old and persistent emergency for Europe – a process sociology approach” will take place within the “Society and Social Change in Europe” course at the Department of Political and Social Sciences.
Focusing on European Emergencies

This lecture directly contributes to the research themes of our Centre, exploring how historical nationalist dynamics continue to pose a “persistent emergency” for the European project. By applying a process sociology approach, Delmotte will offer students a critical framework to analyze the evolving social fabric of the continent.
Collaboration with Prof. Laura Leonardi

The visit is hosted by Prof. Laura Leonardi, Director of the University of Florence’s Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence and a key partner in our network. Prof. Leonardi’s extensive work—including her roles as WCSA Vice-President and Coordinator for the ValEUs Project—aligns with EUMERGENCIES’ mission to foster high-level dialogue on European values and crises.
