Synopsis

Set in the dangerous swamp forests along the Poland–Belarus border, Green Border follows the intertwined journeys of refugees from the Middle East and Africa who are trying to reach the European Union. Lured by promises of safe passage, they find themselves trapped in a brutal geopolitical standoff engineered by state actors.

The narrative weaves together multiple perspectives:

  • a Syrian refugee family seeking safety,
  • a young Polish border guard wrestling with conscience,
  • and activists and volunteers risking arrest to provide humanitarian aid.

Together, these stories reveal the complexity, tragedy, and moral questions at the heart of Europe’s refugee crisis.

Human Rights & Migration Policy: The Core of Green Border

Green Border confronts urgent issues including:

  • human rights and migration policy,
  • border enforcement and violence,
  • compassion versus indifference,
  • and the ethics of national identity and exclusion.

By foregrounding lived human experiences — not statistics — the film challenges audiences to reconsider assumptions about refugees, state sovereignty, and collective responsibility.
